In this ongoing, once a week science class we take a hands on approach in teaching our learners the wonderful world of science. Each class Teacher Lauren will present students with a experiment theme. The entire class will revolve around theme. Students will then participate in hands on activities pertaining to the topic. These activities often include the experiment, a craft, or a stem lesson. Examples of activities are: Creating a tornado, making rain clouds, walking water experiments or some of them many experiments we will work on in this class. Songs and finger plays will act as transition activities as we move though the lesson. As a extension of the lesson Ms. Lauren will provide the students with games, worksheets, and activities to not only work on in the classroom but also can be used as extra learning at home. * Disclaimer is a ongoing class and even though we do follow a topic each class are stand alone and students will not miss out on any information one week to the next. Students MUST be able to follow simple directions as we they will need to do so when following a experiment. Three year old students are welcome to take this class however younger students MAY need a parent’s assistance during the experiment. Younger three year old students may not be ready for a class that is semi structured. Teaching style for this Class: Ms. Lauren loves interaction in all her classes. I love to ask questions and getting the students to respond and interact with the class as a whole. I love to hear what my students have to say about their experiments and more. I do try to keep the students unmuted as much as I can however this is a science class with experiments. During experiments I have noticed the best way to get students to hear directions is to mute while doing the actual experiment set up. This way students only hear my directions. I ask students to raise their hands during the experiment if they have any questions. As soon as the actual set up of the experiment is done I will unmute so that students can interact during the rest of the class. I also unmute if their is questions during that time frame. This class is a little structured because we are following a experiment. However I try to take my que from my students. If I see they are exploring and interacting we may not move on right away. If I see they need a break from what they are doing we will move to another activity.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello, Parents! My name is Teacher Lauren. It's so nice to meet you! Let me tell you a little bit about myself!
With over 18 years of teaching experience I am so very excited to start an exciting adventure with your child. I grew up in a small shrimping community in Louisiana. I have a Associates degree in science in early childhood education. I have experience working with children both in a preschool setting and 3rd-5th grade in a classroom setting. I now have 2 years of experience teaching online in a virtual classroom.
I alter my teaching style to meet the needs of the student(s). I strive to engage children through games and hands on activities. I have created a flexible curriculum that can be altered to better suit my students. In my classes, your learner will be having so much fun that they will not even realize they are learning! I encourage a lot of engagement and participation between myself and the learners as well as learner to learner.
When I am not teaching I am with my family. I am married and have 3 teenaged children. We also have 2 fur babies named Nunya and Kajun. As a family we enjoy Friday night high school football games, or after the season ends you can find us having family game night. I also enjoy going to the beach, and disney.
I look forward to meeting your learner in my classroom soon!
- Ms. Lauren
