Description
Class Experience
After successfully completing this course, learners will be able to - Use all 4 basic math operations (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division) with whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. - Convert between fractions and decimals - Convert between equivalent ratios - Calculate percentages - Evaluate expressions - Solve equations and inequalities Problems will mainly be limited to positive numbers, although there may be some discussion of negative numbers as well.
As a public school math teacher, I have many hours of experience in coaching students on how to be successful in math. I have helped students prepare for standardized testing, as well as provided many hours of personal tutoring and help sessions. I have also taught well over 100 learners on the Outschool Platform, with highly positive reviews and feedback.
Students will be given homework after each class session. Homework will not be collected but is provided as extra practice. Answers will be reviewed briefly at the start of each successive class session. Estimated time to complete each homework assignment is 20 – 45 minutes, depending on learner’s level of math competency.
Please check ‘Classroom’ page prior to each session to download class materials and homework PDFs. These can be printed and used as interactive notes and practice worksheets, or simply as an on-screen guide as we go through each lesson. Students should have paper and pencil to work out problems, and a calculator to check their work.
No live meetings, and an estimated 1 - 2 hours per week outside of class.
