Class Experience

Violin students will learn in a one on one format where their ability and skill level will move the pace of this class.
Each week we will progress at the student's own pace.
Mrs. Judy is a fun and easy-going teacher. Each week we will practice exercises from one of my own publications or from a scale book as well as review a previously learned piece. Then we will move on to working on a new piece in the Suzuki Method.

Students who are absolute beginners-who have no prior experience or who cannot read music will use one of my own publications which are designed to help students learn the basics in a way that appeals to them. For example, some of my books are "A Violin Cat" or "A Violin Valentine" or "A Violin Winter." These books incorporate music theory in a fun game format and provide the beginner Violin student with a solid foundation while they learn music that is familiar and appeals to them. This is ideal for a student who may want to learn multiple styles of Violin playing, or focus on classical or fiddle after learning the basics. This class takes moves along to a new piece each week while students may be learning the same subject material-just presented in new format. Students will learn basic technic of Violin playing as well as note reading. .

All materials are provided except Suzuki Book 1 for Violin. Parents are encouraged to print or purchase printed music to assist the learner. Students can also view music on their device.

Hi! I'm "ViolinJudy," Mrs. Judy Naillon, and I LOVE TEACHING MUSIC! I'm a Professional Violinist and have played with many ensembles, including the Wichita Symphony for over 20 years. I'm a Piano and Violin Teacher with 25 + years experience teaching both in person and virtually! In my free time I write Violin music books, and biographies of composers for kids in my "Very Interesting Life of" series which are available on Amazon.

I have a private teaching studio with MANY Violin, Piano, and Ukulele students so I have limited availability, if you message me I go through my waiting list each week trying to connect learners with any spots that have opened up! I am a master teacher, and have had the amazing opportunity to also work for Alfred's Music Publishers, one of the largest music publishers in the world.

I enjoy teaching beginners through advanced music students with my professional studio setup, and am experienced in teaching ages 3 through adult students. I use a combination of tried and true teaching methods like Suzuki, along with note reading skill building to help my students learn to play music they love. I always have a quick music theory game to engage my music students. My virtual students also benefit from the many educational videos I post for them to my YouTube channel.

I love keeping up with current events and usually read 2-3 newspapers every day from around the world. I enjoy sharing some of these stories in my "breakfast club" weekday morning meet-up and genuinely love getting to know my students. My guilty pleasures are watching til-tok videos and enjoying good chocolate. I love to play the Spelling Bee game from The New York Times Crossword App and try to get to genius every day! I also used to work for our local NPR station and love public radio!

I am blessed to have a wonderful husband, a cute, well behaved mini golden doodle puppy and an amazing daughter who plays many musical instruments and has learned French from Outschool!
