Class Experience

This ongoing class will expose learners to both academic and social preschool skills. Instruction will be hands-on and engaging with the teacher facilitating lessons with modeling and demonstrations. Teacher created songs, stories and finger plays will be used often as a teaching strategy. Using the features of zoom, listening and speaking will be encouraged among learners. The class will be interactive and lively with the learners and teacher actively engaged.

Multi-sensory activities will be used daily as learners are introduced to academic concepts. These activities will include using dough, using blocks, building with interlocking bricks and other hands-on materials. Printouts will seldom be used in class and materials are easily found around the house.

Each class will begin with a welcome song and time to share. We then move to the content for the day:
Tuesday: Alphabet/print awareness/reading
Wednesday: Writing/sensory activity
Thursday: Science/math
Each class will end with a wrap up and good-bye song. The routine of class will be consistent so learners are able to gain confidence and independence in activities. Please note that social skills and time to engage in movement will be included in each class. Learning targets will repeat often to allow for repetition and scaffolding.

The class will be structured as teacher facilitated and interactive. Learners will be engaged in games, discussions, songs and hands-on activities. My teaching style is relaxed and inclusive. I encourage learner participation and questions. The classroom is 'ours' not 'mine'. Learners will have many opportunities to interact with me and their classmates each day.

Parental Guidance
Due to the age of learners in this class, it is suggested that learners be monitored by adults during class. When using sensory items it is recommended that smaller items are tested to ensure they do not fit into a tube the size of a toilet paper roll. This will prevent choking. A space free of trip hazards is recommended for movement and gross motor activities.
Supply List
Each week you will be provided with a material list for the following week. Materials may not always be needed. Parent guidance will be listed weekly with the supply list as needed to ensure safety.
Language of Instruction

External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
Teacher created stories, songs and fingerplays will be used. Teacher created materials have a copyright by the teacher and may not be used for profit. I will use my 25+ years of experience teaching young children as my resource. Public domain rhymes and songs may be used at times in class.
