In this lesson, students will be taken through a guided drawing, as well as, a guided writing lesson. Teacher will begin lesson by showing a video clip of her visiting with puppies. We will then do a step-by-step guided/modeled drawing of a puppy. Teacher will then guide students to write a sentence about their drawing. Guided writing discussion will include many aspects of Concepts of Print. Students will get a chance to share their finished work. No prior writing experience needed for...
Goals/Skills for lesson: • Use drawings, letters, and phonetically spelled words to create meaning • Begin to use organizational structures of writing • Use left-to-right pattern of writing
Students may wish to finish their drawings by adding details of color to their work if not completed in class.
Students will need a sharpened pencil and a box of crayons. Teacher will send template of writing paper for parent to print or make.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
45 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
