US Grade Pre-Kindergarten - Kindergarten
This class is structured around the βI Do, We Do, You Doβ approach. I will improve your childβs phonemic (sound) awareness as beginning readers and use a kinesthetic approach with yoga to form letters! Effective phonics instruction is important because letter-sound association is the foundation and paramount to building up reading and writing abilities. My ten years of phonics instruction experience teaches students to how to decode letters into their respective sounds. Itβs a skill that is essential for them to read unfamiliar words by themselves. Thus, having letter-sound knowledge will allow your child to make the link between the unfamiliar print words to their spoken knowledge. Using a combination of songs, short videos, 2D, 3D and digital props, my class enhances learning and will keep each student fully engaged. Having your child in this *small size class* gives each learner a lot of opportunities to speak. Thus, increasing their socialization skills. By the end of this course, your child will have the necessary skills needed to succeed in this "moving and learning" type course! Each week will consist of:- A greeting, warm-up welcome movement song and collectively singing an ABC phonics song. π€ Tuesdays- An introduction of the two letters of the week. Students will learn how to identify the letter, the sound it makes and write it through interactive games. We will also use gross motor movement (our bodies) for a letter yoga movement activity. (A pose for each letter of the alphabet.) βπΌπ Wednesdays- Echo reading technique, sight words introduction and learning how to build sentences through interactive activities. π Thursdays- Each student gets an opportunity to share during our Show and Tell show for the two letters of the week to promote effective oral communication skills. Students will bring two objects or pictures to present that starts with the two letters we covered this week as a means of reviewing and we will also recap the concepts taught earlier in the week.π£ End of each class: Test your knowledge game, βturn, talk, pair, shareβ and a goodbye song. πΆ The class link below is recommended after takin this class one as it's part of this collection or enroll in the class (link below) if your child has a solid knowledge of letter names, sounds and can write them. This next course after class is a beginning readers blending CVC words to read with show and tell and sight words type of class:- https://outschool.com/classes/level-1-beginners-reading-a-multi-sensory-kindergarten-foundation-phonics-class-XIrOs65Z#usMmuMGeNU *Remember to click the heart on my profile to follow me in order to see new classes.*
