Pre-Pointe class is an essential barefoot strengthening class for young dancers with a goal of one day dancing on pointe.
Class experience
Dancers will be taught pre-pointe technique and barre exercises by a former professional ballet dancer. These exercises are designed to strengthen and empower young dancers on their dance journey, especially for those aiming to dance En Pointe or those newly into pointe shoes. Special focus will spent on ankle, knee, and foot strength. I have danced my entire life, professionally for 5 seasons, taught for many years, and am a graduate of the prestigious North Carolina School of the Arts High School with my emphasis in Ballet Performance.
You’re dancer will only need about 5 ft of space around them, a hard floor is ideal but even carpet can work as this isn’t a highly mobile class. As with an fitness or strengthening class, injuries such as twisted ankles can occur without proper supervision. Muscle soreness is expected, but pain is not. Water bottles are recommended for all dancers. This class is taken barefoot, so no special shoes are required. Any comfortable workout clothes/dance attire is acceptable.
