1 live meeting
1 in-class hoursAssessment
I will assess each learner with an in-class assignment and send the information in a written report after class.Class Experience
Foundational English grammar will be taught as it pertains to Latin grammar and translation. I will cover all of the parts of speech and how they work together. I use various examples and let the learners also experiment with the parts of speech. I always make certain the learners understand the concept before moving on, and I welcome questions and interaction. They will each be asked to label a sentence with the parts of speech and their function. At the end of class, to get them excited for their first Latin class, I will teach them a very familiar song, but in Latin! Learners need no prior knowledge of Latin as this is a remedial course intended to help set a solid foundation for them to build upon.
Learning Goals
Learners will gain a very strong idea on how to put together sentences with the parts of speech, and how that will help them when they begin to translate Latin in future classes. This grammar skillset will also help them in their other language courses, whether they are learning English, German, French, Italian, Spanish, or Greek! Foundational grammar is also integral to writing clearly and concisely.

Supply List
A worksheet and handout will be provided for each learner. Learners may want to bring paper and something to write with to take notes during the class.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Sources
I will refer to a Latin dictionary once during the class. I will draw from, but not show, Wheelock's Latin (7th ed.) for the purpose of introducing the Latin equivalent to our English parts of speech.
Teacher expertise and credentials
3 Degrees
Master's Degree in History from University of South Florida
Bachelor's Degree in Foreign Language from University of Southern Mississippi
Bachelor's Degree in History from University of Southern Mississippi
I teach world history/cultures and the languages associated with them. My teaching experience (2005 - present) is varied, as are the ages I have taught. I've taught pre-school children phonics and grammar. I've taught middle-schoolers history, English, grammar, writing, Latin, German, Greek, and Hebrew. I have taught world history and languages (English, Latin, German, Greek) to high schoolers and university students. I am as comfortable teaching very young children as I am teaching young adults. I have been teaching online since 2017. I am a trained historian with a masters degree. I am also certified in TESOL for foreign learners. I believe education is a conversation, and the more questions learners ask, the more they understand and retain. It is also important to teach excellent soft skills - critical thinking, writing clearly and concisely, research methodology, etc. More so, history, languages, and world cultures are just fun! I love to make it come alive for learners and for them to know that it's more than boring dates and events and historical figures to memorize. As for what I like to do in my free time, I love to collect rocks from places I travel to! If you happen to see me in class on the day we talk about the Battle of Actium, ask me to see the roof tile from the temple! I love to travel to the places I learn about and teach. I love reading and watching cheesy movies.... Just an aside - I am a teacher who absolutely loves teaching. It's more than a profession. So, if you find yourself unable to attend a class you've signed up for - you won't just "eat" that charge. I will reschedule for you and transfer your child's enrollment to the new section.
