During the Pre-K/Kindergarten Morning Circle Time Storytime + SEL class learners will engage with other learners to develop essential social skills through literacy for 5 days each week. Learners don't need any background knowledge to join this class. We believe that our students should come as they are with what they know because each of our learners is amazing. This class is taught in English.
Students will: -learn how to greet their peers and teacher -identify the days of the week and the daily weather -sing a song with their peers -listen to and read a story -share their ideas about the read aloud story
In this class, learners will listen to a read books that discuss different cultures and identities. All of the Grow and Give Learning teachers receive ongoing professional development to address topics of cultures, race, identities, etc. in order to address sensitive topics objectively and safely for all learners. All of our teachers hold Bachelors degrees. All trainings are led by Instructional Coaches with Masters degrees in Curriculum and Instruction-Social Justice Education and Special Education-Inclusive Education. Also, a licensed Behavior Specialist provides professional development on how to address behaviors and social-emotional topics objectively and for specific developmental stages.
There is no required homework for this class. We encourage our youngest learners read with their parents/caregivers or older siblings throughout the day for at least 10-20 minutes per day.
No materials are required for this class. However, we encourage parents/caregivers to allow students to bring something safe and appropriate to share during share time (e.g. a toy, fidget, a drawing, etc.).

2 hours 30 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
In this class, learners will listen to a read books that discuss different cultures and identities. All of the Grow and Give Learning teachers receive ongoing professional development to address topics of cultures, race, identities, etc. in order to address sensitive topics objectively and safely for all learners. All of our teachers hold Bachelors degrees. Movement breaks include basic stretches (e.g. stretching arms, stretching legs, Simon-Says, freeze dance, dance break, etc.). Students may opt out of movement breaks if they have any physical difficulties performing the movements.
