In this ongoing circle time class, preschool aged students will develop and strengthen skills needed to enter Kindergarten as well as some Kindergarten level skills. Use this camp as a review of skills or as a head start for Pre-K. After all, why should learning stop in the Summer? We will of course have fun every meeting. Every week we will have Math, Language Arts, Social Studies and Science or Fine Arts. Every class will begin with a welcome song or activity and calendar time. The main Math skills that will be introduced are as follows: number recognition and counting to 40, the concept of zero, shapes, sorting addition and subtraction. The main Language Arts skills that will be introduced are as follows: letters, letter sounds, rhyming and sight words. The main Social Studies skills are as follows: feelings, people in the community, wants and needs. For Science we will learn about life science, weather, etc. For Fine Arts we will explore music and art. There will be crafts and/or experiments almost every week. I try to use common things around the house or items that can be grabbed at the Dollar Store. Students will have an opportunity to engage in class by greeting one another, answering questions, sing-alongs, games and show & tell. Show & tell will be held every Thursday. Students will have an opportunity to practice concepts in class with weekly provided worksheets and engaging activities. There is lots of movement in class, your learning area needs to allow room to move.

Hi! My name is Mrs. LaShana! I love teaching math classes. I also love teaching Preschool. I have worked with children for over 15 years. I worked as a daycare teacher for 6 years. I have an Associate's degree in Elementary Education. I also have a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration. Fun fact: Mathematics was my my original major in college until Senior year. I am using all those skills to teach. I am a former homeschool mother of 3 children. I am always learning. I think it is a life-long journey. I think learning should be continuous and exciting! My hobbies are cooking, sewing, and crafting. Interesting fact: I once decorated a mirror filled with pennies!
