Class Experience

Lesson 1 - AB Patterns
Our first lesson will be centered on simple patterns. We will start with simple AB style patterns. Teacher Lauren will show the students different patterns on the screen. Students will have to pick which object comes next in the pattern. Using cotton balls and paint students will be able to make their own pattern caterpillar to show off their AB pattern skills. Using the AB pattern concept Teacher Lauren will be showing students a group of patterns on the screen students will need to select which object is missing from the pattern. Our last activity students will be given a color bear pattern worksheet. Learners will be completing this together.

Lesson Two- ABB AND AABB Patterns
Our second lesson will be focused on more complex preschool patterns. Teacher Lauren will introduce the concept of ABB and AABB patterns. She will be showing a few patterns on the screen the class will help to fill in what pattern goes next. Our first activity will be pattern snakes. Students will be given a pattern they will complete the pattern using sticker dots. Students will then play "what's next" where the class will be given objects in a pattern and choices of possible answers.

Lesson 3- Sorting
In this lesson students will be sorting objects by different attributes. Student's will be sorting by color, size, type, and shape though a interactive game. Learners will be given color sorting worksheet, and along with a bag of m&ms they will be sorting the items by colors. Learners will then be given groups of objects belonging to the same type of category. Learners will have to tell which object does not belong in the group.

Lesson 4- Sequencing
This lesson will start with learning sequencing words such as first, second, next and last. Students will be putting blocks, legos or some type of math manipulative in order. During this lesson we will also be playing a game called what came first. Students will be shown three pictures and they will have to decided what happened first. In our last activity teacher Lauren will be telling the students a short story. The students will then be giving a work sheet where they will be coloring and cutting out the pictures and placing them in the order of the events that took place during the story.

Lesson 5- Exploring shapes
During class today we will be going over basic 2-D shapes. Students will be shown a shape and several different everyday objects. Students will be working together to figure out which objects match the shape shown. In out next activity students will be given several different shapes , and will be making shape monsters out of the shapes. Our last activity students will be tracing the shapes.

Lesson 6- Exploring Shapes and Geometry
During this lesson students will introduced to basic geometry. We will be looking at the attributes of basic shapes. Using tooth picks or craft sticks and play dough students will be making shapes. Learners will be counting the sides and vertices of each shapes. Students will also do a shape find activity where each student will be given a worksheet. Ms Lauren will show students a shape card, students will then have to find the shape and color it to match the card.

Supply List
Lesson 1- Cotton balls, Paint, Paper plate, and worksheets found in the classroom.
Lesson 2-Sticker dots, and worksheet found in classroom.
Lesson 3- A bag of m&ms and a worksheet found in the classroom.
Lesson 4- Students will need either blocks, legos or some sort of colored math manipulative for this activity. It does't matter to Ms. Lauren what you use as long as it is in the specific colors requested. They are Bbue, yellow, red, green, and purple. The reason that we ask for those colors is that we are going to be putting the blocks in a order. It gets really confusing for the students if the colors are all over the place. These are the colors I will be using. Colors and Markers, Worksheet in classroom
Lesson 5- Shapes and worksheet found in classroom, scissors, Glue
Lesson 6- Craft sticks or toothpicks and play dough and a worksheet fount in the classroom. Shallow pan to put playdough on so it the shape doesn't fall. Markers and Crayons

Hello, Parents! My name is Teacher Lauren. It's so nice to meet you! Let me tell you a little bit about myself!

With over 18 years of teaching experience I am so very excited to start an exciting adventure with your child. I grew up in a small shrimping community in Louisiana. I have a Associates degree in science in early childhood education. I have experience working with children both in a preschool setting and 3rd-5th grade in a classroom setting. I now have 2 years of experience teaching online in a virtual classroom.

I alter my teaching style to meet the needs of the student(s). I strive to engage children through games and hands on activities. I have created a flexible curriculum that can be altered to better suit my students. In my classes, your learner will be having so much fun that they will not even realize they are learning! I encourage a lot of engagement and participation between myself and the learners as well as learner to learner.

When I am not teaching I am with my family. I am married and have 3 teenaged children. We also have 2 fur babies named Nunya and Kajun. As a family we enjoy Friday night high school football games, or after the season ends you can find us having family game night. I also enjoy going to the beach, and disney.

I look forward to meeting your learner in my classroom soon!

- Ms. Lauren
