This course is designed for young learners of the English language. The course is taught completely in English, giving learners opportunities to hear the language and speak the language. Learners will be introduced to a wide range of basic pre-kindergarten English vocabulary and sentence structure. This is an on-going course so leaners are able to join in at any point in the class rotation and classes do not build on one another. The syllabus for this class is listed below. When we finish with the last week, the class will begin back at week 1. Each week, learners may be asked to bring items/toys to class that relate to the topic for the week. We will take this opportunity to share with others. At the end of each class, we will review the English alphabet. Flashcards for the weeks' words will be provided after class for review at home. This course is done in a social/club environment, there is no standard curriculum or lecture. 11/22: Animals 11/29: Parts of the Day 12/6: Shapes 12/13: Community Helpers 12/20: Going Places 12/27: Emotions 1/3: Colors 1/10: Family & Home 1/17: Seasonal- Winter 1/24: Things that Go 1/31: Animals

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi Everyone! I'm Miss Jessica. I'm so excited to get to know your littles through some pre-k alphabet activities and sight words activities. I hope to get a middle school aged writing workshop for essays and one for story writing put together for older learners.
I have worked with ages pre-k through college in many different subject areas from basic reading skills to entry level biology. One of my favorite teaching positions was a tutor with Sylvan learning center where I worked with small groups of students in a 3 to 1 setting. I've also worked as a lead teacher in a seventh grade writing classroom. I believe all students are capable of learning when we build confidence, celebrate successes of all levels, and have fun.
