Pre-K Individualized Reading Tutoring
Individualized tutoring for a Pre-K student learning beginning reading skills. In this ongoing course, beginning reading strategies will be taught including, phonics, word families, sight words, & reading emergent reader texts.

In a 20 minute tutoring session, the student will learn beginning reading strategies. The student will learn phonics blends, and decoding strategies for words including: consonant- vowel- consonant words (CVC words), consonant blends, words that have special rules (such as words that end in "e"). The student will learn sight words based on the Dolch sight word lists for pre-kindergarten and kindergarten, and finally we will put everything together and conclude the lesson reading emergent reader books (books with predictable text) so the student will experience reading success! We will use flash cards, play games, read stories, make mini books and sometimes a craft to keep the student engaged and enjoying reading. My main goal is to encourage the student and provide tools on their journey to learning to read. Tutoring Session Schedule: Greetings Reading Strategies: Phonics/decoding words Sight Word Practice: Through games, mini books, flash cards Reading: Using Emergent Reading Text so student is reading Week 1~ Introduction and assessment of students knowledge of letter/sounds & intro AT Word Family Week 2~ Decoding CVC words, word family -at, sight word practice, AT family flip book. Week 3~ Word Family -AP, sight word flashcards, mini book Week 4~ Word Family -AM, sight word flashcards, -AM Word Family matching activity Week 5~ Word Family -AN, sight word flashcards/practice, Sight word AN mini book Week 6 ~ Review Sight Words with a fun game of bingo, intro -IT Word Family *PLEASE NOTE~ Teacher will be on vacation June 24 (NO CLASS)
Learning Goals
Students will improve their phonics skills through decoding CVC words, consonant blends and word family practice.
Student will improve their reading skills by learning sight words from the pre-kindergarten and kindergarten sight word list.
Students will improve their reading ability by reading emergent reader text and books.
Other Details
Supply List
Basic school supplies: crayons, markers, scissors, whiteboard and marker, index cards for making sight word flash cards. The teacher will provide printouts for some tutoring lessons. Any additional supplies the teacher will communicate with families

Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.

There may be emergent reader books to purchase for the tutoring sessions. Check with the teacher.
