Class Experience

This is an ongoing class designed to be like a Circle Time meeting in a school setting. Each class, we will have calendar time, followed by a daily letter, number, shape, color, and sight word that we focus on (once each one of a category has been focused on, it will be a review of all the ones we have covered. For example, if all of the basic 2-D shapes have been individually learned and we still have classes, we will review all the shapes in the rest of the classes).

For letters, students will learn the letter and the sound it makes, words that start with the letter, and how to write the letter.

For numbers, students will be taught the number and how to count to it, will count objects of that number, and will practice writing the number.

For shapes, students will learn the name of the shape, its attributes, and objects that are shaped like it.

For colors, students will learn a color, find an object of that color nearby, and discuss other things that are that color.

For sight words, students will be shown the word, repeat it, and spell it.

We will also use various activities, games, songs, and stories to help reinforce the concepts of each daily focus. Some may be seasonal/festive to fit with the time of year.

The schedule will be as follows*:

Week 1 Day 1: Letter A, Number 1, circle, red, sight word "and"
