Class Experience

US Grade Preschool - 1
Beginner Level
My circle time class will provide a fun and educational start to your child’s day! Each weekday we will meet for 25 minutes. Those 25 minutes will be engaging, exciting, full of learning, and most importantly FUN!

Each child has a different learning style and in my classroom, I will implement different learning methods and provide a learning environment that will allow for each child’s unique style. For the auditory learners, we will be singing songs and using repetition. For the visual learners, we will be reading colorful books and I have made several colorful, interactive slideshows with funny and memorable pictures and text. For the kinesthetic learners and my FAVORITE part of the class, we will be using our bodies to make letters, drawing in the air and on our bodies with our fingers to make letters and numbers, and adding physical movements to songs to keep young learners engaged.

Class Structure

🕰️ 0-5 minutes-Welcome song and open input from learners on anything they would like to share. This helps learners feel welcome and ready to participate in class. If your learner is reluctant at first, that is 100% ok. Let the learner observe for the first few classes and from my experience, that child will be sharing before the week is over!

🕰️ 5-10 minutes- Calendar work (day of the week, month of the year, etc.), weather, and alphabet song

🕰️ 10-20 minutes-Story-time and weekly topic will be introduced on Mondays. We will then discuss that topic each day as content builds. Learners are encouraged to think about the topic outside of class and come to class the next day with any questions on the topic. This creates inquisitive learners, which is a wonderful trait to have!

🕰️ 20-25 minutes-Goodbye song, vocabulary word of the day, and ending class discussion

🔤 Each week students will focus on a letter, number, and different animals.

🔤 Week 1: Letter A, number 1, and farm animals-goats

🔤 Week 2: Letter B, number 2, and farm animals-cows

🔤 Week 3 Letter C, number 3, and farm animals-horses

🔤 Week 4 Letter D, number 4, and farm animals-pigs

🔤 Week 5 Letter E, number 5, and farm animals-chickens

🔤 Week 6 Letter F, number 6, and aquatic animals-whales

****The entire schedule will be released upon sign up. Parents will receive a weekly lesson report on what we went over and ideas for practice at home. Parents are more than welcome to send a message requesting additional topics to be covered. As long as the request is sent ahead of time, I will put the idea into action!

**We will take the weeks of Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years off.

Learning Needs
While this class is not intentionally designed for those with dyslexia, some of the work we do has been adapted from my work with children with dyslexia.
Supply List
The biggest thing I ask of parents is to provide a quiet area that is free of distractions. At this young age, if your learner wants to get up and move around, please let them. A positive learning experience for a child is more important than them being forced to sit still for the whole class. You may be surprised at what mobile children still pick up on when you think they aren’t listening! One of my most improved learners was a child who had been sitting on the floor playing with a barbie for a majority of our classes together.

If there are any supplies needed (ie: playdough, pencil, toy for show and tell, etc, you will be notified well in advance!

As you can find in my bio, I have taught circle time classes for several years in a variety of spaces. The children may change from time to time, but one thing that never changes is that young minds are very impressionable and they love to have fun! This is why my goal in every single class I provide is to have fun with the students. A young learner retains information much better when they are enjoying themselves. Pre-k work sets a child up for life and it is imperative that they find a love for learning at a young age. As they get older, demands and pressures on them change, but if they love to learn, they will adapt and change with them.
