Class Experience

Welcome everyone to this twice-weekly circle time! If your young learner is ready to learn some French, enjoys songs, dance, and games, this is the perfect class for you!

During this ongoing class, we will meet to learn a French while moving and grooving!
*I strive for an immersive environment. I use English to frame the lesson at the beginning and get students comfortable. After we sing our welcome song, I rely on photos, miming, and props for comprehension. I will translate if necessary to clear any confusion.

Each class will start by singing a short song to say hello. We will learn one or two letters of the day and practice some "letter yoga" to get moving! This will be followed by a topic lesson to learn vocabulary words and at least one full sentence. Topics may include different vocabulary units such as toys, animals, food, colors, shapes, etc. Based on the topic, this will be followed by a song, dance, or game to practice the vocabulary. Songs will be simple, nursery rhyme style songs they can continue to practice after classes!

All levels are welcome in this class!

My Muting Policy:
As this is a language class, I want to be sure every student can hear me and that I can hear each student when it is their turn! This is best for hearing pronunciation and making corrections.
I may need to mute your child if there is background noise in the learner's space, people are talking loudly near the learner, or the learner is regularly repeating. (Repeating is great and parents should encourage this! However, regular repeating when it is another's child's turn makes it difficult for me to hear the other learners. So I may need to mute your child. But then please continue repeating! )
***Because the mute function may need to be implemented at some point, I suggest several solutions for having a smooth class!
1. Teach the student how to unmute themselves before class and explain why they may occasionally be muted by me.
2. Have an adult present who can help unmute the learner.
3. Change your settings so that I as the teacher can manually mute and unmute the learner. (This is the easiest for young children!)
Please let me know if you have any questions about this policy!
