Learners will warm up with a fun hello song and will be encouraged to sing along, but it will not be necessary. The learners levels will be assessed as we do these opening activities allowing for the exercises to be customized for the group dynamic to ensure that the different types of learners are properly challenged and acknowledged. We will go week by week incorporating different topics as we constantly review previous material. Week 1 will review letters and cover basic phonics, and spelling to establish a foundation for spelling in the next weeks. Week 2 we will review colors, learn how to spell them, and begin identifying patterns and shapes. Week 3 the learners will learn numbers 1-20 and will continue to learn more shapes, solve some basic addition problems and will learn to read and speak out the math equations. Week 4 we will spend these last two classes reviewing any subject that the students found particularly challenging. We will play games, engage in show-and-tell, and practice our new skills to review, reinforce, and synthesize the lessons learned. Methods and tools used include videos, songs, flash cards, memory games, recognition and counting challenges, spelling challenges, as well as hand and body movements. I encourage peer competition and partnership and always teach with numerous digital and analog props. I like to provide plenty of encouragement and even rewards!
Learning Goals
1. Learners will be able to identify letters, numbers, shapes, and colors by object and word.
2. Learners will be able to say and sound out all 26 letters.
3. Learners will be able to spell the names of the colors, shapes, and numbers.
4. Learners will practice spelling and counting by identifying real-world items.
5. Learners will be able to count to 20 and solve rudimentary math problems as well as say the equation as a sentence.

Parental Guidance
Parental supervision is optional, but welcome and up to the parent's discretion. If there are behavioral issues, I will reach out to the parents to request supervision. Students may need some assistance if they choose to do homework assignments. The assignments will be fairly simple and may involve counting items in the home, drawing a picture, or writing some letters, shapes, or numbers.
Supply List
I recommend having some small toys, trinkets, or small household objects placed near the student so that they can actively participate in the "show-and-tell" portion of the lessons, as well as some paper and pencil, in case we do writing for a particular section.
External Resources
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
