Hello!

In this 6-week online course (mid July-Aug), I will take students through a review of key Algebra I topics that are most important for success in Geometry. I am a passionate educator with 6+years experience teaching both Algebra and Geometry in the classroom and tutoring both online and in-person. The class will meet once per week for 60 min and include homework to reinforce topics. This course has been designed to reinforce Algebra I topics each week to provide a comprehensive review of key skills before a student moves on to Geometry in their math curriculum. The lectures will be given over zoom and include ample practice problems to work on during class and homework worksheets to practice between classes.

Students should come prepared with paper, pencils, and whatever calculator they use in their Math class, and assigned homework is not mandatory but strongly encouraged and will be reviewed weekly. The course progression is planned as follows:

Week 1: Order of Operations (PEMDAS) and Evaluating Expressions

Week 2: Radicals (simplifying, rationalizing, and operations)

Week 3: Solving Equations (one step, two step, multi step, variables on both sides, and equations vs. expressions)

Week 4: Exponents & Polynomial Expressions (exponent rules and adding, subtracting, and multiplying (FOIL) polynomial expressions)

Week 5: Factoring (GCF, guess and check method, difference of two perfect squares, and perfect square trinomials)

Week 6: Quadratic Functions (graphing, characteristics of the quadratic graph, vertex form, solving by factoring, and the quadratic formula)

If you'd like to dive further into any weekly topic, please book a slot in my other course, “1:1 Private Math Tutoring: Algebra I, Geometry, & Algebra II (45 Min)”, which is an as-needed, one-on-one tutoring session, bookable on a flexible schedule. Please feel free to reach out with any questions!

Hope to see you in my virtual classroom soon!
