Pre-Calculus for Mathematicians: Semester 1/2 Functional Topics (Self-Paced)
Class experience
US Grade 9 - 12
Practical Pre-Calculus for Mathematicians 1/2 will provide a complete first semester Pre-Calculus curriculum covering 16 topics and can be completed in a 4 month (16 week) single semester by completing 1 topic each week. A pacing guide will be provided for planning purposes. The end date of this course will be extended 1 year from the start date so students will have plenty of time to complete the course and/or review material as needed. Sections will be offered at the beginning of every...

Homework Offered
A pacing guide will be provided as well as a syllabus outlining how each student and family can determine the best homework load for their situation. Each session there will be an instructional content for note taking, a practice set of problems, and a solutions guide to check their own work, that should all be completed for each topic. Labs and online participation components are considered part of class time but will also need to be completed each week. Optional enrichment activities and additional practice will also be available.2 - 4 hours per week outside of class
Assessments Offered
Assessments will be provided and can be formally graded or self-corrected.Grades Offered
It is recommended that students have access to a graphing calculator like the TI-84 plus beginning with Algebra classes. Students will receive handouts and assignments throughout the course. Labs and optional enrichment activities may require miscellaneous household items on occasion.
Desmos.com an online graphing calculator utility and is a third party tool that does not require an account to use, but students may create a free account if they choose. Students will use desmos.com throughout the course in addition to their personal graphing calculator. YouTube.com will provide supplemental videos for students to experience math through seeing and is a third party tool that does not require an account to use, but students may create a free account if they choose.
