This is the first part of a full year of Pre-Algebra. All the major topics are included to prepare the student for Algebra next.
Class experience
This Pre-Algebra semester class is the first of six parts for a full year curriculum. Students need to have a solid basic math foundation (such as arithmetic, order of operations, fractions) and prior knowledge on the classes they are interested in taking. We will be using a website ‘Classkick’ for our classes. You will not need to sign up for an account. I will provide a link at the beginning of each class. Students will gain the knowledge and confidence of Pre-Algebra concepts in order to move up to the next step of Algebra.
I am a New York state licensed classroom teacher in secondary math and special education. I taught math at a high school in NYC DOE for 5 years before deciding teach on Outschool. Patience and compassion are my strong suits. I will help you if you ask! Having a child "get" a concept gives me joy. My wife and I homeschool our three daughters.

Classkick will be used in class so students can work out problems on the screen and only I (the teacher) can see their work. There is no account necessary. To sign on, I will provide a link at the beginning of class and you would click on the link and put students first name and you will be able to log in without any account. To be Coppa Compliant, you will only be able to access Classkick lessons during class time. Once class ends, you will no longer be able to access the lesson. I will provide you with a link to a shared Google Drive folder where all the homework assignments and answer keys will be uploaded to. Sometimes, we will use Kahoot or Blooket to play games on the topic we are doing in class (if time permits). You will not need to sign up for an account with Kahoot or Blooket.
We will be using Classkick.com website for class. I will also post the answers to the class work we do in class at the end of the week in the Outschool Classroom. Optional homework assignments, homework answer keys and materials from classwork will be posted as a PDF in the Outschool Classroom once a week. It will be posted via a link to a shared Google drive folder. Sometimes we will use Kahoot or Blooket to play games related to the class topic of the day (time permitting).
