Description

Class Experience

At the first meeting, we will discuss what your learning goals are and how I can help you reach them. Goals can include:
- Becoming more proficient in Algebraic concepts
- Passing Pre-Algebra or Algebra
- Having fun with Mathematics!
- Insert your goal here!
As a civil engineering designer, I use trigonometry and algebra every day. I saw how math was applied in real life, and I am super excited to show students how these math concepts can apply to their lives as well. For the last 15 years, I have taught kids from Kindergarten to 12th grade in homeschool groups, on Outschool, and on Varsity Tutors. I like engineering, and I love teaching. I bring a passion for both into the classroom, and I am so thankful you've decided to go on this learning journey with me.
Practice is essential for everything we learn. We can use our tutoring time for practice, but I encourage you to include a little math practice at least two times per week. This helps sharpen skills and deepen knowledge. I can provide practice assignments in Khan Academy to do outside of our time to reinforce what we cover.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
55 minutes per week in class, and an estimated 0 - 1 hours per week outside of class.
Math anxiety is real. The cure to math anxiety is building confidence. To that end, I try and start very slowly and simply, and praise effort as well as accomplishment, to encourage that confidence.
