Class Experience
Many children on the autism spectrum or those who have special learning needs, have challenges and difficulties comprehending and responding to WH questions....who, what, where, when & why. Even more challenging can be questions such as "how" as well as making inferecnes and predicting outcomes. In this one to one tutoring session, I will be engagning with your child while we practice these important social and comprehension skills. We will explore WH questions that are commonly heard and used in the home, at school and in the community. We will also work on "how" questions, listen to stories and look at picture prompts to practice making inferences and predicting outcomes, while having fun together.
Learning Goals
The goals of these sessions are to improve your child's listening and comprehension skills in order to help them respond approrpiately to questions asked. The goal is to help improve their pragmatic language and social conversation, ability to infer information and make appropriate predictions. As we work together, we will indirectly be working on keeping conversations going and staying on topic of conversation.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I am a mother of a 15 year old boy who has autism. I have successfully homeschooled him and have brought him from being non verbal at age 7, with extremely low tests scores, to a highly verbal child with above average test scores. I am passionate about helping children with special needs improve their social and conversational abilites while having fun. I have learned that all children who are on the autism spectrum have unique interests and minds, which can be used to faciliate language more appropriately. I have been tutoring children with special needs for several years. I also run social groups for children with autism and teach music to special needs children. I have a Master's Degree in nutrition and a Bachelor's degree in psychology. I encouraged and supported my son, when he was only 13 years old, in writing and publsihing a book entitled "Maybe Autism Is My Superpower". I feel such joy in helping children focus on their abilities instead of their disabilities and I encourage them share these gifts with others!
