Note-taking isn't just important for students while they are in school- it's an extremely valuable life skill. Whether someone is reading or listening, taking notes helps them concentrate, which in turn allows them to absorb more information. My life has revolved around communication- both written and oral. I earned my Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication with a triple minor in English, History and writing from the University of California, Davis, and have since taught English Language Arts for over five years. I have also taught specialized courses in Study Skills, just like this course right here. I have extensive training in student organization and note-taking methods, and truly believe that this skill is one that every student should explicitly be taught.
Materials will be provided to all students. It may be helpful for students to have access to a printer to print out notes and handouts, though it is not necessary. Students will need a few pieces of lined paper and 3 different colored pens or pencils.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
