In this 6 week course, we will go through the Fun with Mouse and Friends series by Laura Numeroff. Each week, we will read a different book in the series. Each student will have the chance to read out loud and practice sounding out words. They will learn about sentence structure and sight words. After each story, we will work on reading comprehension by going over a few questions about the story. We will discuss why the characters made certain choices and use our imagination to create what ifs for what could have changed in the story. Students are encouraged to get up and act out the story if they wish. If students would like, they can bring a stuffed animal for the animal that week as well as the food item. See books below for what each week will entail. Week 1: If You Give a Mouse a Cookie Week 2: If You Give a Cat a Cupcake Week 3: If You Give a Moose a Muffin Week 4: If You Give a Pig a Pancake Week 5: If You Give a Pig a Party Week 6: If You Take a Mouse to School This is recommended for ages 6-8 reading level. Other students are welcome but please let me know if they are outside of this reading level. It is recommened that all students have the books to read in class but it is not required.
