Class Experience

Cursive writing is such an important life skill that is fun and exciting to learn! This class is perfect for students who have already been introduced to cursive writing and know how to form most of the letters. In this class we will have fun writing silly sentences and stories together while practicing cursive writing. The students and I will work together to come up with some funny and creative sentences. This will help keep the learners engaged and excited to practice the silly sentences and stories they create! Not only will this help students learn to write in cursive, but it will also help students with grammar, spelling and writing skills as well!

How will the class be set up?
2-5 minutes - Welcome and get to know another
5 minutes - Brainstorm some silly sentences/stories
15-20 minutes - Teacher will model correct formation of letters and help students write on their own papers
2 minutes - Show off our work and say our goodbyes

Teacher qualifications:
I have been writing in cursive for over 20 years. I have also taught many 2nd grade students how to properly form letters and write in cursive while teaching in my public school classroom. This is such an important life skill that I love teaching and want to encourage students to have fun with and love as well!

Learners will be able to drop in any time! The weekly session topics will be learner-directed and will not build upon one another.

There will be no class on Friday, April 7th. I will be on Easter/Spring Break.

Before teaching 2nd grade, I tutored students in reading comprehension, decoding words, math and science after school and during the summer. I was also a Title 1 reading intervention specialist for grades kindergarten-3rd grade focusing on reading fluency and comprehension strategies. I have worked in a preschool and pre-k setting as well working on a variety of literacy skills. I have been writing in cursive for over 20 years. I learned in kindergarten and have been perfecting the craft ever since! I taught many 2nd graders how to properly form letters and develop the confidence they need to successfully write in cursive!
