Calling all rural, farm, and homesteading kids! This learner-led chat class is discussion-based and provides an opportunity to share their daily lives, progress, tips, and questions with other farming and homesteading learners. Learners are encouraged to: * Share a personal weekly update * Bring new topics, questions, or current events * Share video, photos, or real-time farm tours * Participate in student-led interactive discussion * Help others problem solve * Make friends with other rural farm kids! Suggested seasonal and various topics will be provided. However, the class discussion will be more casual and conversational in nature and largely student-led; rather than rigorous, turn-based formal presentations. Students will not necessarily need to prepare anything prior to class time, and may show up just prepared to chat. Discussion topics will be largely seasonally relevant and may include subjects such as: My dream farm Balancing farm life and school My favorite pet Celebrating harvest Preparing for the coming season/month Animal and crop spotlights Giving thanks Preparing for the coming season/month Our cat and dog allies My favorite thing about winter Wild woodland visitors My favorite farm experience Foraging Living in a small town or rural setting * Please note that due to the nature of farming and homesteading, topics such as butchery, predation, illness, and loss of animal life may come up in conversation. *

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been homesteading for more than two decades: living on a timber farm, raising a garden, wildcrafting from forage, and raising various animals, including: horses, dairy goats, waterfowl, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats. I also served as a veterinary assistant for seven years in a small animal clinic.
