Hello! Thank you for your interest in Powerful Prehistoric Predators: A Study of Carnivorous Dinosaurs! My name is Kristi Robertson. In this nine-week asynchronous class, students will learn about nine of the most popular animal predators throughout the prehistoric eras! As a reminder, there are no live Zoom meetings in a self-paced class; instead, students will use the online class structure to guide them through each lesson in the class. Assignments: Each week we will study a different predator. Each predator has its own digital Lesson Board complete with research articles, assignments, and fun stuff. There will be two assignments required per week: 1. Pear Deck Slides 2. EdPuzzle Videos In each lesson, I provide detailed written instructions as well as video instructions on how to complete each of the three assignments. The Pear Deck Slides are a set of interactive Google Slides that each student will complete on their own. The slides consist of activities such as typing an answer to a question or dragging and dropping an item on the slide to answer a question (e.g., "move the bar to the correct number on the number line that shows the weight of Tyrannosaurus"). The EdPuzzle videos are short videos about a particular prehistoric predator with built-in comprehension questions throughout the video that the students will answer. Communication, Engagement, and Interactivity: The primary means of communication between the students and me will be through posting messages and discussion questions in the discussion thread in the Outschool Classroom. The digital resources and assignments are all extremely engaging and require the students to have hands-on digital interactivity in each. Again, thank you for your interest in the class and I look forward to having your child in my online classroom! ~~~ Kristi
