During this 5 week course, students will be given the strategies for writing a complete and powerful paragraph. During each session, students will engage with brief instruction followed by writing exercises to complete independently and alongside their peers. In the first session, students will be introduced to the format of a powerful paragraph. Next, students will be introduced to the types of paragraphs. Students will be encouraged to pick their writing topic(s) for their paragraphs. Throughout the course, I will provide feedback for every paragraph. The feedback is meant to be applied to their next assignment the following week. The sessions will be divided by the following topics below. Session 1: Powerful Paragraph Introduction, Structure, Toolkit Session 2: Expository Paragraph Session 3: Persuasive Paragraph Session 4: Narrative Paragraph Session 5: Descriptive Paragraph, and course conclusion
Learning Goals
Students will learn how to structure various types of paragraphs with:
-a topic sentence that explains what the paragraph is about.
-supporting sentences meant for development and elaborating on the topic with more detail.
-conclusion sentence that summarizes the topic.
Students will understand the difference between different types of paragraphs. The paragraphs range from expository, persuasive, narrative, and descriptive.
Objectives:
- Understand the fundamental types of paragraphs and their purposes in writing.
- Develop the ability to write clear and informative expository paragraphs.
- Learn how to construct persuasive paragraphs that influence the reader's opinion or behavior.
- Develop skills in writing narrative paragraphs that captivate readers and convey stories effectively.
- Refine the ability to write descriptive paragraphs that vividly portray subjects and environments.

-Students are welcome to write their paragraphs on the virtual google classroom notebook, provided by Mwalimu Saarah. OR -Students have the option to bring their own notebook and pencil to write in.
