45 mins in-class hoursClass Experience
Students will learn the popular technique of pour painting. We will discuss color blending, and enjoy group discussions on what our color pallets will look like poured out onto canvas. This class will start as a demonstration, to show the simple step by step process. Students will then start their canvas. Each student will choose a variety (between 4-10 colors). Students will learn the process of layering paints, and then experience the fun and excitement of pouring out their color pallet. Students will turn their canvases side to side, and up and down, to direct the paint which way to go. We will share our results at the end of class, and discuss results amongst a group.
Learning Goals
Students will improve their concepts of color blending, and paint layering.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hello learners! My name is Mrs. Hipp and I am an Art teacher! I have taught art at all ages! I created an after school art club for 6th, 7th, and 8th grades including a mural painted by the middle school art club. I taught art with PreK and Kindergarten classes for 3 years, and continue my journey through teaching.
I studied art at The Art Institute of Chicago. I loved every second of it. I love investigating each painting, trying to identify what was the artists creative process? What were they thinking, and feeling when they made this? What was going on in the world that played a part in their artwork?
I loved learning about art history and artists from the past. It is a beautiful timeline learning about the masters of art, and how they inspired their cultures. I want to explore art through the ages from Davinci to Picasso, and Frida. We can't forget Duchamp, VanGough, Monet. and so many more. I cannot wait to share with you all of the exciting details of different artists, and their paintings.
One of my favorite quotes of all time is from the well known Pablo Picasso. "Every child is an artist." I truly believe this. The word artist is a mindset not a skillset. My goals are to introduce, and explore different skills to beginning artists, and watch them grow passed their own boundaries. As my favorite Magic School Bus teacher Mrs.Frizzle once said.... "Lets take chances, make mistakes, and get messy!"
I am so excited to go on this journey with you. In my classes we will explore different art medias and materials including: paint ( all kinds of paint), clay, paper mache, recycled art, charcoal, oil pastels, sketching with pencils, scratchboards, and more!!! Come join me on this creative adventure!
