In this course we will learn a basic history of how positive psychology became popular, the scientific evidence for the benefits of positive thinking, and basic principles for training yourself to benefit from positive psychology. The principles of positive psychology can help anyone to learn to build happiness in their lives no matter their situations in life. The course will be interactive with learners sharing ideas and answers for specific situations through applying the principles we discuss. As a teacher, I love when my students are excited about the topic and share their excitement with each other. After explaining the basic principles, the class will be discussion based with students sharing their ideas on how to apply the principles to everyday situations in their lives. I will have slides sharing the information and questions for students to discuss and answer together. Most scenarios and questions will be subjective to be able to invoke more discussion of possible responses. Students do not need any prior knowledge to be successful and benefit from this class. I am excited to help students learn to channel positive thinking and how this can benefit them now and in the future.
Learning Goals
Students will learn the benefits of positive psychology and how to apply it to their lives in their differing situations and cultures.
