Class Experience

**This course is a follow-up to Positive Affirmations to Build Self-Confidence Part One!**

Together, we will identify our BEST traits and recite positive affirmations that will build self-confidence. Though this class is listed as a Like Skills course, students will also be learning material taught in English classes as well as Health & Wellness classes. Affirmations are primarily the practice of positive thinking and self-empowerment—fostering a belief that "a positive mental attitude supported by affirmations will achieve success in anything." Words of encouragement can build self-esteem and help students feel confident in who they are and their abilities, especially in the current climate and what's happening in the world. In this course, I will ensure students not only recite positive statements that they love, but also statements that they believe in.

Students will review what they've learned about affirmations in Part One, continue to recite "I am..." statements, and finally they will each be able to share their positive thoughts about another story we will read together. Statements will provide valuable lessons for both boys and girls within the 3-6 age group.

Looking forward to meeting you in this one-time class!

Profile
Teacher expertise and credentials
My contribution as an educator comes from my insistent need to empower young people with the tools that helped me identify my exact voice: creative writing and performance. As an accomplished, and published, poet and spoken word artist, I plan to use both my honed writing voice and my extensive performance experience (as well as a diverse canon of words from other authors) to introduce students to the multi-faceted world of creative writing, performance art, and public speaking.

My hope is that through these topics, students will gain a breadth of knowledge in writing, confidence, and speaking, and will be inspired to investigate their own identities and voices.
