Beginner Level
In this course, learners will be introduced to Portuguese through role-play conversation and games. Class structure: We will always warm up with a few minutes of practicing our greetings in Portuguese. After that, we will start the theme of the week (a song, a poem, or a a role-play). We will end the class with a game where we practice the topic learned that day. Materials used: The teacher uses screen share with presentations and with a white board interchangeably. Learners do not have to make notes. However, some learners like taking their notes, and that is allowed. Learners are not expected to annotate on the teacher's shared screen but allowed to do so, if it helps their learning and that of the group. Teacher style: Ms. Lambert is friendly and encouraging. Our class is a safe and friendly space for learners of every personality and learning style. The class is highly interactive so we can all be speaking Portuguese every week! * The teacher will explain differences between Portuguese in Europe versus Brazil as long as the difference is significant. For the most part, the content applies to both European and Brazilian Portuguese.
Learning Goals
Learners will feel comfortable to greet in Portuguese and feel familiar with common greetings directed at them, knowing how to respond to greetings.
Learners will familiarize themselves with vowel sounds of Portuguese through songs, poems, and role-play.
