Class Experience

Each week we will learn and practice a word in Brazilian Portuguese. We will listen to some children’s favorite songs and practice our new word each week. Students will be given a post class activity after class and will be encouraged continue to practice to retain the information. This is a great class which will give young preschool and pre-k students the confidence they need to verbally communicate as they approach Pre-K and Kindergarten. We will sing, dance and play games as we learn. Students will leave class each day smiling and having gained the courage to speak confidently while better able to recognize a new word in Brazilian Portuguese as we discussed and practiced in class.

This class will be conducted in English, it is not an immersion class. We will learn one word in Brazilian Portuguese per week and practice it throughout class. During class, we will dance and sing to some of their favorite songs. We will also stop to interact verbally as well as play games and learn how to socialize in an age appropriate way- waiting our turn, asking and answering politely.

Your student will leave this course with exposure to the beginnings of Brazilian Portuguese, the basics of dance, a better exercise habit, and a great review of social etiquette as is expected for young learners of their age.

There will always be a post lesson activity sent home, whether a color sheet or other hands on activity to keep the learning process growing and expanding.

I am so excited to sing, dance and have a great time with all of the students!

Please have an open space for your student to dance and sing freely. Please provide assistance as the student may need. Dance at your own risk! *Please note that in all classes including music and movement, learners will be asked to unmute themselves after each song. I wish I could do it for you, but ZOOM requires each user to unmute themselves. This is a way to minimize glitching with audio and video. We will practice this at the beginning of each class.*

Teacher expertise and credentials
I was born in Brazil and raised in a Brazilian household. My first language is Portuguese and I have studied Spanish from a very young age. As my own children grow up, I try to teach them English, Spanish and Portuguese, one word at a time as I will do in this class.

I have been teaching children for over 20 years and have a degree in Dance and English. We will move and learn while having fun! My performing credits include Touring the World with Broadway’s Evita, Sesame Street Live, and performing in Disney World Theme Parks as well as regional theatres for children and adults alike. It is extra fun to take class from the real life Pinkalicious, Little Red Riding Hood and Dorothy!

I look forward to meeting your student and learning through play.
