The Portuguese for Beginners class offers a highly interactive and engaging learning experience. Using a communicative and immersive approach, the focus is on real-life conversation, essential vocabulary, and pronunciation practice to help students develop confidence in speaking. Lessons are structured with fun role-playing activities, interactive dialogues, and pronunciation drills, ensuring that students actively participate and practice their skills in every session.

No prior knowledge of Portuguese is required—this class is perfect for absolute beginners! The supportive, small-group setting allows for personalized attention and direct feedback, making it easy for learners to follow along, ask questions, and progress at their own pace. Whether learning for travel, cultural connection, or personal enrichment, students will gain practical language skills in a fun and encouraging environment.

The following list outlines what students will learn in each class, giving parents a clear understanding of the skills and knowledge their child will gain. Each lesson is designed to introduce essential vocabulary, improve pronunciation, and develop conversation skills through engaging, real-life scenarios. Week of March 31: Making New Friends – Asking about interests, hobbies, and personal background.

Week of April 7: Giving & Receiving Compliments – Expressing appreciation and responding politely.

Week of April 14: Going to the Doctor – Describing symptoms and understanding medical advice.

Week of April 21: At a Pharmacy – Asking for medicine, describing symptoms, and understanding dosage instructions.

Week of April 28: Getting a Brazilian SIM Card – Asking about mobile plans and purchasing a SIM card.

Week of May 5: Going to the Bank – Withdrawing money, exchanging currency, and opening an account.

Week of May 12: Ordering at a Café or Restaurant – Asking for recommendations, ordering food, and paying the bill.

Week of May 19: Buying Groceries at the Supermarket – Asking for prices, quantities, and checking out.

Week of May 26: Shopping for Clothes – Asking for sizes, colors, and trying on clothes.

Week of June 2: Going to the Post Office – Sending letters, asking about delivery times, and mailing packages.

Week of June 9: Booking an Appointment (Hairdresser, Doctor, Dentist, etc.) – Scheduling a visit and explaining your needs.

Week of June 16: Negotiating prices, asking about products, and making purchases. 

Week of June 23: Ordering a Taxi or Ride-Share – Giving directions and handling payments.

Week of June 30: Visiting a Tourist Attraction – Asking for information, buying tickets, and taking a tour.

Week of July 7: Buying Souvenirs – Asking about traditional products, negotiating prices.

Week of July 14: Going to the Beach – Renting umbrellas, ordering drinks, and talking about beach activities.

Week of July 21: Exploring a New City – Asking for recommendations, finding attractions, and using a map.

Week of July 28: Making Travel Plans – Booking flights, discussing destinations, and creating an itinerary.

Week of August 4: Checking Into a Hotel – Making a reservation, asking for services, and checking out. 

Week of August 11: Talking About Brazilian Traditions & Holidays – Learning about local customs and celebrations.

Week of August 18: Hosting a Guest – Offering food, making someone feel welcome, and discussing preferences.

Week of August 25: Handling an Emergency – Calling for help, describing an accident, and asking for assistance.

Week of September 1: Making Small Talk & Expressing Opinions – Agreeing, disagreeing, and making suggestions

Week of September 8: Making a Complaint at a Store or Hotel – Expressing dissatisfaction and requesting a solution.

Week of September 15: Handling a Language Barrier – Asking someone to repeat, speak slower, or switch to English.

Week of September 22: Explaining an Issue with a Product or Service – Asking for a refund, exchange, or repair.
