Class Experience

Students will learn and have daily practice with the following information and concepts in Portuguese: days of the week, months of the year, how to read and write the date, numbers, colors, shapes, counting, number order, letter names and sounds and rhyming. I will teach from slides to ensure that students can clearly see the information. I will use my hands, facial expressions, voice intonation as well as body movements to both engage and help students to learn and understand what is being...

Students will learn and establish a daily routine for talking about the calendar in Portuguese. This will include basic math and literacy concepts.

Teacher is a native Portuguese speaker. She has a degree in teaching Portuguese and has been teaching online for a couple of years.

No homework will be assigned for this class. I only encourage students and families to welcome and include the Portuguese language by making connections in their daily lives as often as possible while watching, listening to and participating in the world around them.

Learner progress will be assessed daily during each lesson as the teacher sees and hears that the student has become independent in reciting the information learned during the calendar routine. Students will be able to ask and answer questions in the target language. Students will have individual turns to demonstrate progress and understanding. Parents can also assess their own child's progress as they become more independent during their participation in class as well as how they are using learned information outside of class.

2 hours 5 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
