Whether you’re creating an artistic portfolio to a specialized high school or college, a competition, or for yourself, this course will help you build a stunning art portfolio that expresses your artistic voice.
Class experience
This class is designed for students who want to develop a great portfolio of artwork. Whether a student's goal is to get accepted to a specialized high school or college, submit their work for a competition, or to expand their repertoire, this class will help students take their skills to the next level and create a well rounded portfolio that stands out from the crowd. Week 1: Students will create self portraits by looking in a mirror. Students will learn contour drawing, linear shading and measurement. Week 2: Students will practice drawing people from observation and memory. Students will hone their observational skills and begin to work from memory to construct portraits. Week 3: Students will create a landscape or cityscape painting. Students will learn to use color as a form of observation and expression. Week 4: Students will work with pastels to create a still life piece. Week 5: Creating from memory, Students will use all the tools we have worked with previously to create from their memories. Week 6: Students will participate in a class critique with their instructor and fellow classmates.
