Writing can be a lonely pursuit, but it doesn't have to be! This writing group offers young authors of science fiction, fantasy and dystopian stories a safe, positive community to brainstorm new ideas, overcome writer's block, troubleshoot areas of works-in-progress that aren't working, commiserate about ongoing struggles and be inspired to write more. 

Each week, students will introduce themselves and answer an ice-breaker question. Then, students can discuss whatever writing-related issues are weighing on their minds or share current or planned projects. If students do not have much to talk about, we will play fun writing-related games or complete workshop-style exercises to practice skills that translate to every aspect of writing. 

Students will benefit from the accountability provided by regular meetings and enjoy a place to share finished projects and receive objective opinions on their writing.

IMPORTANT: My classes are safe spaces for creative students. I start every session with a reminder that writing can only thrive when students can be vulnerable. That means any comments about another student's ideas or writing must be supportive. Mean-spirited, critical comments will not be tolerated. Please remind your students to be kind to others before class starts. Thank you!
