In this small-group class, budding violinists will be learning to play what they love--whether it's Ariana Grande's latest hit, a jazzy holiday song, a movie favorite, or a video game soundtrack.
Class experience
Violin students get to choose their own repertoire for this class! 24-hours before class, they will submit the song they most want to learn, then during class I will help them learn their song by ear. Depending on how many are enrolled in this small group class, they will have the option of learning the other students' songs as well, or continuing to work on their own selection. Students will learn to play a song of their choosing by ear. This ear training will improve pitch, rhythm, memory, and give them confidence to try playing music by ear on their own.
I studied violin performance at BYU and have taught violin for 26 years. As a professional violinist I played as concertmaster of the South Bend Symphony and in the Orlando Philharmonic.
Students need to bring their violins.
