Class Experience

In this one-time gymnastics skill session, we will work on improving shoulder flexibility and learning how to do a bridge. This class is perfect for anyone wanting to develop their bridge skills in a healthy and safe progression. I will be demonstrating each stretch and drill to help students see the correct form and body positions.

Shoulder flexibility and bridges are skills that develop over time with practice, but having a class of dedicated practice time can really jump-start improvement!

We will start with a 10-minute warm-up and stretch. We will discuss the importance of a warm-up and how to stretch safely without causing injury. We will do multiple stretches for our whole body but will also be sure to add some shoulder stretches.

Following the warm-up, we will spend 10 minutes working on bridges and learn drills that can be practiced at home for additional practice! This is also a great time for us to chat and get to know each other during class.

The last couple minutes of class will be time to show off our progress and play a game.

No experience is needed to take this class, I will walk you step by step through the stretches and drills. All skill levels are encouraged. I will be showing skill-appropriate stretches for all levels to practice their bridges safely.

Learning Goals

Students will learn the proper stretches and techniques to improve their gymnastics skill - the bridge. Bridges don't happen overnight, but students will learn the techniques to practice safely on their own after class time.

Parental Guidance
Gymnastics should be done in an open room with space to move around on the floor without running into any furniture. I suggest using a space that has carpeting, a gymnastics mat, or a yoga mat that isn't slippery. We will be discussing safe stretching and drills in class but encourage students to work at their own pace during class to prevent injury.
Supply List
You will want to have space in your house on the floor where you have room to stretch and move without running into any furniture.
Carpeting is fine, or if you have a hard floor I recommend laying down a yoga mat or gymnastics mat.
Please wear comfortable clothes that you can move around in to class. Leggings or sweatpants are a great choice!

I was a competitive gymnast for over 10 years, and have coached gymnastics on and off for the last 8 years. It's something I love and am very passionate about! With the pandemic, I am not currently coaching in a gym, so I am so excited to get some stretching time with Learners on Outschool!
