In this on-going course, students will practice important conversation skills such as active listening, asking thoughtful questions, and sharing their thoughts in complete sentences. Each week, we will discuss a different episode of the popular series- "Spirit Riding Free." I will provide a few guiding questions based on the episode and facilitate a conversation among learners. Learners will have an opportunity to share their thoughts on the episode with one another. We will practice asking...
Students will be able to communicate their thoughts and opinions in an organized manner. Students will use complete sentences when sharing their thoughts and opinions. Students will be able to practice active listening. Students will be able to ask clarifying questions.
I have over 15 years of equestrian experience and have been teaching children ages 4-16 about horses for over 10 years. I have been working with preschool and elementary aged students in classroom, camp, and recreational contexts and have facilitated activities with these age groups focused on developing communication and social skills.
Students will need to watch the relevant episode of "Spirit Riding Free" prior to the discussion.
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
