As an introduction to the piano, you will learn all about making music on the piano in a fun and interactive way, to help you decide if you wish to take piano lessons in the future.
Class experience
Thinking about beginning piano lessons but not quite ready to commit to weekly lessons? In this one time course aimed at introducing students to the instrument in a fun way, students will have the opportunity to learn all about how the piano makes sound, experiment with musical rhythms, and how the piano can be played in a variety of ways. By the end of the class, students will have a better understanding of what piano lessons would be like and what exciting things they could expect to...
1) Students will learn what elements are involved in producing sound in the piano (such as hammer, string, key). 2) Introduction to the concept of musical rhythm, and how different rhythms are used to produce different styles of songs. 3) How to locate groups of 2 and groups of 3 on the piano or keyboard. 4) Potential introduction to the 7 letters of the musical alphabet ( A B C D E F G) 5) Potential recognition of simple themes on the piano (such as Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, Happy Birthday, Star Wars, etc) 6) This class experience will provide the student and their family with a better idea of what piano lessons would entail and may solidify or spark an interest in beginning continuous piano lessons.
As this is a simple orientation to the instrument, a piano or keyboard is not required for this class. If the student does have a piano or keyboard, they are encouraged to have it nearby for the duration of the class.
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
