Polymer Clay Sculpting: Proportions of the Face Flex Class

In this flex class students will learn about the basic proportions of the face and apply it to their artwork. This is a great class for beginners and young students that are interested in sculpting or drawing more realistic people. One of the most important things to make an artwork of a person look more realistic is to have everything in the right spot - that's where proportions come in! This class is taught in English.
Students will learn how to draw and sculpt faces using the basic proportions of the face. Student's will practice using the learned facial measurements as well as sculpt three-dimensional shapes and learn about color mixing.
Homework Offered
Please complete each week's assignment and upload it into the classroom page on Friday's in order to receive teacher feedback before the following Monday. Students will be expected to comment on one another's artworks. In case of a large class, the teacher may randomly assign a critique partner each week. Students will be using the following prompts to talk about one another's work: 1.) Name one thing that you like about this artwork. 2.) Why do you like this certain part? 3.) What colors and shapes do you see?1 - 2 hours per week outside of class

Polymer Clay - please have at least white, black, brown, red, yellow, and blue - more colors the better! Plastic Clay Knife and toothpick (other sculpting tools welcome)
Learners will not need to use any apps or websites beyond the standard Outschool tools.
Parents or guardians will need to bake the clay after class so that the sculptures will harden. The package of clay that you purchase will have directions. Most advise 15 minutes per 1/4 inch of clay at 275 degrees. Note the use of a plastic clay knife during class. These are commonly included with clay sets.
