Description

Class Experience

The learners will learn how to make polymer clay figures. They will learn how to condition the clay, how to create a figure out of the clay, how to give details to their figure, how to create texture in their creation, and how to glaze their creations in order to give them a shiny finish.
I have been an educator for over 30 years. During this time, I have taught art to students in grades K-5 including using polymer clay to make figurines.
The learners will need to make the polymer clay figures each week.
Polymer clay in a variety of colors selected by the learner. Polymer clay tools (I will be using double-sided clay tools that I purchased at a local craft store. These can also be found on Amazon and other crafting supplies sites). They should include a roller and sculpting tools. Magnets (for use to make the figurines into magnets if the learner chooses to do so.) - Optional An oven. A baking sheet Parchment Paper Glaze
In addition to the Outschool classroom, this class uses:
The learners will be assessed informally based on their participation and figures.
No live meetings, and maybe some time outside of class.
The learners will need some supervision with baking and cooling the polymer clay figures. They will also need assistance with the glaze unless they choose not to glaze their creations. I store my videos on Youtube to save computer space. I will be posting unlisted Youtube links for the demonstration videos.
There are no outside sources being utilized for this class. I will create the videos and have them stored on my unlisted Youtube page, so there will be links to Youtube used in the classroom.
