Polymer clay is a fun way for young learners to practice creating a wide variety of decorative objects including plants, animals, food, insects, pop culture items and silly monsters. Each week in this ongoing course students will be led through a step by step process of making the clay sculptures listed below. Students are encouraged to choose colors they like to make the piece their own. No experience is required but creativity is encouraged! Polymer Clay Club is also a fun place for learners to socialize with other learners their age while doing an activity they enjoy, working with clay! Week of October 7: frosted donuts or cupcakes Week of October 14: Mushrooms Week of October 21: Cacti and Potted Plants Week of October 28: Bees, Butterflies, Ladybugs and other insects Week of November 4: Turtles or Tortoises Week of November 11: Lizards Week of November 18: Sea Creatures (Octopi, Sea horses, Sea Stars, etc) Week of November 25: Dragons Week of December 2: Chicks, Chickens, and Roosters Notes about polymer clay: Polymer clay is non-toxic. It can be worked and reworked many times and colors can be blended to make new colors. Once baked in the oven (instructions included in materials section), polymer clay stays hard and durable and keeps its color. Polymer clay is also easy to clean with just soap and water or baby wipes.
Learning Goals
