Class Experience

Students will learn how to create an avocado in clay and the basics of polymer construction.
None.  Students may want to add additional details if choosing to bake their avocado.
All items you can find at local craft stores like Michaels or Amazon. Links below are for Amazon. 1. Light Green Polymer clay 2. Dark Green Polymer clay or black to add to above green clay 3. Brown Polymer clay 4. Optional: Pink Polymer clay (if want to add cheeks) 5. Polymer clay tools or everyday objects like a popsicle stick or toothpick 6. Clean non porous area to work on- such as a piece of tin foil or tile 7. Optional: jewelry findings- earring backs, key chain or necklaces. Jump rings & eye pins. This is a good starter set:
Informal assessment- at the end of the class students will share their owls with the group.  I will ask students "What are you proud of in your project?" and "what would you work on if you had more time?"
30 minutes per week in class, and maybe some time outside of class.
Oven use- if making artwork permanent
