Description
Class Experience
As I read the classic, Polar Express, students will plan, design, create, test, and reflect upon their design of Santa's Sleigh. Students will take a regular pasta box and with their imagination, creativity, and measuring skills will create an artistic, and fast sleigh. After designing, and building students will test their sleigh's ability to carry presents. Students will create a roof top out of a cake pan, and turn a piece of felt into a Santa's Sack. Students will be able to listen to parts of Polar Express and recall important details. Students will also learn the five steps in the engineering process. Students will begin to plan, create, and build without directions. They must use their brownpower in this 30 minute class.
I am a 16 year Maryland Certified teacher with a Masters in both education and Biology. I am currently a STEAM Coordinator, and teacher for grades pre-k through 8th.

Scissors, rulers, markers, empty pasta box, white piece of planning paper, cake pan, paper towel or red felt, pennies, rocks, buttons, tape, glue and any Christmas stickers for decorating.

Scissors will be used to cut thin cardboard, thus, I will remind students to cut away from their hands.
