In this class, we will learn all about one of the Arctic's most fearsome predators: the Polar Bear. We will cover the basic anatomy, diet, and habitat of these apex predators. Learners will also be able to explain the adaptations these animals have developed to become successful in this harsh environment. We will cover the impact humans have on these animals and how we can help them in the future. This class is presentation-based, with discussions and relevant stories mixed in. Basic knowledge of marine mammals will be beneficial but it is not required.

Teacher expertise and credentials
Hi!
My name is Ms. Camie! I currently live in Orlando, FL and have lifelong passion for the ocean and all the animals that call it home. I have grown up around the water, swimming in oceans and lakes. This passion followed me to college where I graduated with a Bachelors of Science in Marine Biology with a minor in Psychology. Once I graduated I came back home briefly before moving to San Diego for a summer with the Navy Marine Mammal Program. Here they train sea lions and dolphins to help the military detect objects underwater or even people! (shhh...secret stuff). After that I came back to Orlando again where I started working at SeaWorld here in Orlando with most of the marine mammals in the park. It's been almost 5 years working there and still going strong. Through my educational background and my work experience I have a lot of knowledge I could share with my learners who are interested in the fun world of marine mammals.
I have over 2 years experience teaching online, mainly with ESL students. I also have some experience coaching high school students on the local rowing team. At SeaWorld I have experience speaking guests and showing them how great the animals really are.
I look forward to seeing you in class soon!
Ms. Camie.
