What's included

Calling all Pokémon Trainers! In this ongoing class, your child will be eager to get active as we exercise alongside other Pokemon lovers. Each week will feature new Pokemon themed challenges and games. Learners will perform various balance, agility, and strength exercises throughout class. No prior experience needed. No supplies or equipment needed! Let’s get active, socialize, and "Catch 'Em All", together! Don’t forget to bring all your energy, anything Pokemon (cards, stuffies, drawings, etc.), and a water bottle too! An upbeat fitness workout keeps it fun and entertaining! Class will begin with an introduction and talking about our favorite Pokemon. I can’t wait to hear all the things you know! I bet you have tons of things to share! Each week your learner will be encouraged to bring anything Pokemon, as a part of our class will be complete socialization with other Pokemon fans! For the exercise portion, I will guide students through the warm-up and stretching. Safety first! Next, I will model and perform a variety of age- appropriate exercises (I am a Licensed Youth Exercise Specialist, certified through the National Academy of Sports Medicine) as we have fun getting active. We will finish with a final cool down stretch. Half of the class will be exercising, while the other half will be Pokemon games and socialization (talking and sharing with other learners). Learners will have the opportunity to help me count out our exercise repetitions and share all their Pokemon knowledge. You can expect your child to receive lots of encouragement and praise throughout our workout. They will leave feeling excited about fitness, and with new exercises they can practice at home! It's also a great way to get to know other kiddos with their same passion for Pokemon (and if you have a little Pokemon trainer in your home, you know what I mean! They are PASSIONATE!) I love seeing them make connections with other kiddos and really get to enjoy some time just playing and engaging with other children!
Learning Goals
Students will learn REAL stretches and exercises in a Pokemon themed workout class. Practicing and perfecting these exercises over time will improve your child’s flexibility, balance, agility, and increase strength!
They will also be working towards achieving the daily physical activity recommendations of both the CDC and American Heart Association. According to the CDC, it is recommended that "children (3-5 years) should be physically active throughout the day for growth and development. Children and adolescents ages (6-17 years) should do 60 minutes or more of moderate-to-vigorous intensity physical activity each day, including daily aerobic – and activities that strengthen bones (like running or jumping) – 3 days each week, and that build muscles (like climbing or doing push-ups) – 3 days each week."
According to the American Heart Association:
Active kids are more likely to have:
-a healthy weight
-stronger, healthier bones and muscles
-better heart and brain health
-improved brain function, including memory, attention and problem-solving
-better school attendance and academic performance, especially in math, reading and writing
-lower long-term risk of cardiovascular diseases, diabetes and some kinds of cancer
-less stress and fewer symptoms of anxiety and depression
-less inappropriate and distracting classroom behavior
-improved mental health and psychological well-being, including confidence and self-esteem

Parental Guidance
Parental guidance is suggested just to make sure your child is staying hydrated and resting when needed. But don't worry! We will take plenty of group water and breathing breaks!
