Love Pokémon? Love gaming? Then you've come to the right place! In this class, students will engage with each other in a friendly environment whilst playing Pokémon Unite. Pokémon Unite is a multiplayer online battle arena game, consisting of two teams of five players. Each match is time-limited, and the team with the highest total score by the end of each match wins. Teamwork is key as we defeat wild Pokémon, level up and evolve our partner Pokémon, and knock out the other team’s Pokémon to prevent them from scoring points. Before battle, we will discuss which Pokémon to use as each Pokémon has its own strengths, weaknesses and unique move sets. We will talk strategies and the best way to beat the opposing team by earning points, defending our goal zones and to limit the other teams opportunities to score. This is a flexible class and each week will be student led. We will play as many games as we can fit within class time and students can decide which battle mode they wish to play in. The more we battle the better the rewards, so lets keep battling each week to earn in-game rewards to unlock more Pokémon, as well as outfits for our Trainers and Holowear for our Pokémon, so we can have even more fun. Lets put our teamwork to the test and take home the win! Pokémon Unite is available to download for free on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices, so students will need to have access to this in order to participate in game play.

Teacher expertise and credentials
I have been in education for 19 years and am currently the Assistant Head of Special Educational Needs in a secondary school (students aged 11-16) in the UK. I believe in an inclusive education for all students, no matter their ability or disability.
I teach English, Film and Media, and creativity is at the heart of all the classes I teach.
I was an art technician for three years in which I honed my artistic skills that I will use to offer art based classes.
I also ran my own small baking and cake decorating business for seven years; I even had celebrity clients! So, I hope to offer these classes to students in the near future.
In my spare time I love walking my pug and I am an avid reader of fantasy fiction. I also enjoy running; I have completed several half marathons and my goal is to complete a full marathon some day. I am a big kid at heart so look out for my Pokémon based classes!
I will leave you with one final thought: 'Education is the most powerful weapon we can use to change the world.' - Nelson Mandela.
