Class Experience

US Grade Kindergarten - 10
Each week we will study a group of "bugs" that have some striking similarities to Pokémon characters. Students will practice comparing and contrasting insects and spiders to the Pokémon inspired by these creatures. We will also learn how to create and use a Venn Diagram as a comparison tool. Students can also choose to design their own insect-like Pokémon.

This is a self-paced video course; each lesson contains one recording (each about 40-50 minutes long) plus extension activities to expand your learning beyond the recording. All extension activities are optional and at the discretion of the parent.

Need a discount? Sure thing! All of my self-paced courses are "pay what you can afford." To get the discount you need, sign up for the course first, then message me with the discount you would like, and I will apply a partial refund. This must be done before the end of the first week of class.
Learning Goals
By the end of the course, students should be able to:

🐝 Understand the the basics of biological classification systems, particularly Phylum Arthropoda.
🐝 Compare and contrast two similar creatures using a Venn Diagram.
🐝 Explain the behaviors and life cycles of several different insects and arachnids.
🐝 Describe the defining characteristics of insects, arachnids, and myriapods.
🐝 Explain why spiders, scorpions, centipedes, millipedes, and ticks are not technically insects - and how they are related to insects.
🐝 Describe the similarities and differences of their favorite "bug" Pokemon when compared with the real deal.
